We are incredibly excited to announce that Adelante Center for Entrepreneurship has been awarded a substantial grant of $150,000 from the Chicago Region Food System Fund (CRFSF). This grant is part of the “Grow Local and Regional Food System Resources” initiative, signifying a significant milestone in our journey towards strengthening local food systems and enhancing community resilience. We're incredibly honored and grateful to be selected as a recipient and look forward to continuing on our journey of reinvigorating North Chicago and beyond.

Building a Resilient Food System

In the wake of the COVID-19 crisis, the importance of robust and sustainable local food systems has never been clearer. The CRFSF, created during the early months of the pandemic, aims to fortify the food system within approximately 200 miles of Chicago. This Fund not only promotes organizations like ours that support local food production but also emphasizes the need for racial and economic equity in the food sector. We are proud to be part of this transformative movement.

Our Role in the Local Food Ecosystem

With this grant, Adelante Center for Entrepreneurship is set to embark on an innovative project. Our goal is to establish an alternative local food collection channel, specifically designed to support small and mid-sized food producers in the Chicago region. By aggregating and distributing their products to various outlets such as food pantries, stores, and wholesalers, we aim to create a more accessible and efficient food supply chain that benefits producers and consumers alike.

Looking Ahead

This grant is not just a funding opportunity; it's a call to action. We see this as a stepping stone towards a future where local fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and many other products are not only produced through regenerative agriculture but are also easily accessible through local businesses.
